12 pies and ink

Hello everyone! Firstly, sorry this is late and I think for at least the month of October, or maybe longer if it works better, I'm going to be posting the blogs on Saturdays! It was previously on a Friday because before I started at Sea Zoo, that was my day off, but now I work Fridays at Sea Zoo and sometimes don't get home til later than 7 so I think Saturday would make more sense! Secondly, this is going to be another pretty quick post, because my pal Joe, who has now moved to Manchester, is back for the weekend and I'm pretty sure I owe him a pint, so we're off to the pub this evening to catch up about both our new jobs! I've got to cook and eat pasta too before then so I'm going to quickly write this and post it before dashing off! I'm a super busy bee at the moment, with all sorts going on that I'm not allowed to tell you about yet, lots of pies... is that the expression? Thumbs or fingers in pies or something... Whatever it is, I think I'm juggling about 11 pies at the mo, so you'll forgive me for finding typing out a blog post a little tricky! (See what I did? Pretty proud of how I recovered that catastrophe of a metaphor there!)
As you'll know if you were here for last week's post, with the month of October, along with leaves and cold, cosy weather, blankets and jumpers, comes Inktober! (I think that's another pie I didn't count, too...12 pies) Somehow, for the first year ever, I have managed so far to stay up to date with Inktober, following the daily prompts and completing a daily ink drawing. I haven't yet done the drawing for day 7, so I think I'll either have a go at that while I scoff my pasta or it will have to wait until tomorrow! So I'm sure you're dying to see what I've come up with for each prompt... I'd like to say that I think the prompts are open to interpretation and some of mine are a little ... loosely related, shall we say?
Day one
'Swift'

Day two
'Divided'

I couldn't decide what to do for this prompt and so I ended up doing the one below and not liking it! So I came up with two very different interpretations. Which one do you prefer?

Day three
'Poison' (Okay, so some of you may recognize this a bit if you are very keen beans, this was very similar and inspired by a previous piece I have done before...If you recognize it, send me a message and see if you're right... lots of brownie points for you if you're correct!) This was only a very quick one!

Day four
'Underwater'

Day five
'Long' A pretty loosely related one here, I took this as 'longing' rather than long... but also tried to make the features in this elongated too.

I posted this on day 5 but then this weekend decided to add some ink colour to her too, but to be honest I think I preferred her in monochrome!

I actually live-streamed this inking process on Instagram too, and it was the first live filming I have ever done before, and it was TERRIFYING. However, it wasn't completely a disaster so maybe one day I'll be brave enough to live-stream on Facebook...Maybe!
Day six
'Sword' and a shout-out to my adorable cactus candles!

For those of you who don't watch cartoons like a five year old (me) then this is a character called Pearl from a programme called Steven Universe. The imagery is gorgeous, as is the animation in the show. And who am I kidding, I love the programme itself too, regardless of whether or not it is primarily targeted towards little 'uns!
As an extra bonus, I also doodled a little pumpkin pal this week, and intend on doing more, it was really fun!

Anyway, I had better go and cook some pasta before Joe starts to wonder where I am! Thanks for reading, let me know below which was your favourite style from Inktober this week! Catch you next week with seven more inky arts,
Rachel x
