Hi everyone! How are we all? Enjoying this lovely late Summer spell we've been having? No? Oh, of course, that's right, we've had pouring rain all week again! My mistake, only I thought that because we've had such a rubbish rainy Summer that we'd get a bit of sunshine in September instead... Oh, that isn't how it works? Hmmm. I see. Okay, well, never mind then. Good thing that unlike most people, I actually love the rain! Especially since being in our new house, we have a cute little secret patio at the back that is completely enclosed and with the lovely glass patio doors from our lounge, we can watch the rain raining away, which I love to do, whilst still being all tucked up and cosy!

Anyhooo, onto the main event! I know you're all here because you want to know all about the Beaumaris Food Festival, so let's just jump straight in... First things first, we had to set everything up. The Festival was on both Saturday and Sunday so we were allowed access to set up on Friday afternoon, which was fab because it meant that I didn't have to get up at ridiculous o' clock on Saturday morning to get everything prepped and ready. As we all know, this was very good news, because I am not a morning person! So Mum and I packed up all of our bits and bobs and boxes in my Mini and then drove to the green, and were asked to park up to wait for our allocation. Naturally, we parked in the wrong place and in true cringe style, we had to empty our things and move the car quick! Some helpful helpers for the Food Festival thankfully took pity on us and decided we clearly needed some assistance, and very kindly helped us carry our things to the craft tent where we due to set up. Could we be any more embarrassing? Probably not. I'm sure we'll manage it next year, though, somehow. So, car moved, boxes lifted, helpers thanked (thank you again if you're reading this!), it was time to set up the stand! I always both love and hate doing this, because I don't want to have the same lay out every single time but obviously of course there has to be structure, and though we had a plan in mind, you never know exactly what it's going to be like until you get there. Anyway, after lots of laying things out and then picking them up and rearranging and replacing items, and numerous debates between myself and Mum (mostly about where to put the banner) we finally had everything set up how we wanted it. Sorted. Time to go home and nervously wait for the morning!

Saturday morning, 7.30am...ish? ?? Sleep. More sleep. Not ready for the Awake yet. Can't do the sentence making. Can't do the people talking. Nope. SLeeEeeeEEp.

7.45am, ish. Or rather, one cup of tea later.

Much more coherent. Not quite ready for the day yet but nonetheless, a little bit less zombie and a little bit more Rachel. One thing that we didn't have set up on the Friday was our canvas stand, which I had to adhere canvases to (using fish gut, top tip, strong but invisible... if you're alarmed by this sentence, fear not, I don't mean invisible marine life intestines... but rather fishing line/twine) and so Farren and I had to allow time to carry this from our new housie to the Craft Tent in the Festival. So after breakfasting and getting dressed and checking all the last minute bits were in order, we set of at half 8ish to be ready for 9am. Still not quite functional as a human but nearly. 10am Caffeine fuelled now from the lovely Ffika van, and people have started pouring in in their masses, and it gets busier and busier inside the Craft tent. We've made friends with our surrounding crafters, and Farren is on hand for the day to help me run the stand. We got a really great reaction, and the new products (new designs and new magnets, prints and coasters) were a big hit! It was a very successful morning, and after a busy spell, I decided it was time we sampled some of the delicious food on offer. I sent Farren to find us some scrummy lunch and explore while I stayed and manned the stand. Well, he returned an hour later with an armful of goodies. Non-edible goodies! He returned with a cardboard box full of various plants, pots and seeds, and to my stark relief, a (very small in comparison to the box of plants) bag with lunch! The plants do look lovely in our new lounge though, and will hopefully one day taste as good as they look... radishes, lemon verbana, fennel, marigolds... you name it, he's planted it on our windowsill, keeping them cosy until next Spring! (I think, I am not the one with the green thumb)

Anyway, the Festival was spectacular and when day one was over, we took all the non-overnight things home and had what was supposed to be a quick cup of tea before returning to enjoy the Food Festival and it's evening festivities. That's what we intended to do. Except that we sat down for a cuppa and then didn't get up again, because we were exhausted!

Day two.

Day two began with rain. The forecast said the rain would let off at about 11am, so we weren't expecting much in the way of people until then. There were, however, quite a few people around, brave souls braving the weather, which wasn't just a trickling but a continuous downpour. Continuous being the optimum word here, being that 11am came and went and sadly the rain did not go with it. An updated forecast promised the rain would subside by 1pm. The rain, however, didn't care much for what the forecast thought and proceeded to rain on through the afternoon and into the evening. However, despite the stubborn weather, people came and enjoyed the Festival until 5.30pm, when it was declared that the Festival was over and it was time to pack up! So all in all, it was a very good weekend, and I thoroughly enjoyed it, even the rainy Sunday. Even packing up and carrying things through the muddy swamp the green had become to the car.

As part of our stand this year, we also decided to run an exclusive Food Festival Competition. A free competition, many people were pleased to hear and enter! All you had to do was write down your email and be in with a chance of winning any one of my 12x12" canvas designs, winner's choice! And so, I'm sure the reason most of you have read through this much of my mumbling is to get to here, the COMPETITION RESULTS!

The number here corresponded to a number, and for obvious reasons I can't read out the email, but here is a little hint, if it's you, congrats!

The winner by now will have received an email from us, and will hopefully soon be in touch to let us know which is the canvas of their choice. Thanks to everyone who entered and for anyone that didn't get the chance to enter this one, worry not, there will be many more competitions from us in the future. Thanks for reading everyone and as always, I will catch you next week! (Hopefully on time but I learned from my mistakes last time, and I won't promise it will be on time because if I do that then I will likely make a fool of myself.) Rachel x
