Hi everyone, I hope you're all having a lovely week and enjoying the somewhat premature plunge into Autumn we're experiencing! I don't know if it's just me, but we've already had the heating on,I've found it chilly these past few evenings - hot chocs and fluffy jumpers, hooray! I have had yet another very busy week, it's starting to catch up to me a bit, this no days off nonsense! It is worth it though because I'm loving the Sea Zoo life and soon enough I'll be able to find some more time for myself (and puffins) when the 'season' quietens down a bit! Since I've had such a busy week, it's pretty much been work work work all day every day and then boring puffin admin in the evenings, so there isn't really very much at all to update you on blogwise! (Unless you want to hear about our wild night in playing Monopoly with some friends?)

Originally, I intended to write a recipe blog post this week, for chocolate orange cupcake/muffins, but I made them with my friend Joe and a little too much alcohol (in us, not the cakes) and so while they were absolutely delicious, we didn't get many pictures and the measurements were mostly guesswork (i.e. sifting flour until it looked about right, adding icing sugar until it was yummiest) since the scales ran out of battery! (Plus the fact that we were both too tipsy to take any good pictures and ate the prettiest cakes before we remembered to photograph them.) So all in all, although it was a very fun evening, there will not be a chocolate orange recipe for you this week I'm afraid! You can see some of our tipsy pics, though...

An exciting update that I know you will all be fascinated by is the fact that because it's already basically Winter, we have dug up the slow cooker! I don't know why slow cookers are a Winter thing, but slow cooker meals just seem so much more cosy and homely when the rain is pouring and there are gale force winds outside! So we've been having some lovely meals and experimenting with the slow cooker, and I'm not sure if this is an original idea or not (I haven't Googled it yet and I'm sure it's already been done, but to me it's revolutionary) but has anyone ever used the slow cooker for home made soup? Because we did this week and by Golly, it's a game changer!

Well, I'm afraid that apart from soup, slow cookers and Monopoly, I haven't really got very much else to prattle on about! So I think that although this was a very short blog post (I can hear the sighs of relief) I'm going to leave it there for this week! Thanks for reading, I'll make sure next weeks post is more exciting, but honestly, what's more exciting than slow cooker soup? Not much in my world!! Catch you next week, Rachel x
