5 Useful Things You Didn't Know You Could Do With a Fridge Magnet

Hello everyone, and welcome back to another blog post! I hope you all enjoyed our fantastic guest blogger last week, and if you haven't already had a peek, I'd suggest giving last week's post a read, Deborah (also known to me as Mum, or when I'm looking for something or want to borrow her things, 'MuuuuuUUUuuuuum...') is a very entertaining writer! I'm afraid this week, you're back to slumming it with me, but I'm working on other exciting guest blog posts for the future, so stay tuned! (Some of them might even be people who aren't related to me!) In the run up to Beaumaris Food Festival, which we will of course be attending and exhibiting at, I've been working very hard behind the scenes on some exciting new projects and products, one of which arrived this week... fridge magnets! We have done fridge magnets before, but they were only a trial run, whereas now we have 58mm round magnets, featuring five of our lovely puffin pals (so far!). I was so excited when these arrived, and even if I do say so myself, chuffed to bits with how they turned out! Here are some pictures so you can be as excited as I am about them (although honestly I'm not sure that's really possible):

As this week's topic is magnet-tastic, I thought I might give you a little insight on things you might not have thought about when it comes to magnets, fun and creative uses for them that aren't just sticking them on your fridge! (although I might add that one in too if I run out of ideas before I hit a round number, it's late, we'll see how it goes...) 1. Picking up nails, screws, and other little metal doodads This one is pretty self explanatory really, but to clarify, you can use magnets to attract any little pieces of metal (obviously) and so if you're doing a bit of DIY or fighting with a new piece of IKEA furniture (we've all been there) and your nuts and bolts and bits and bobs keep rolling under the couch, use a fridge magnet to keep them safe! 2. Metallic paint

Have you ever heard of metallic nail varnish? This one is a bit niche but I like how creative it is and that's what I'm all about, so I thought I'd like to include it! If you paint your nails with metallic nail varnish, before the nail varnish dries, use your handy dandy fridge magnet (I usually prefer one with a happy go lucky puffin illustration on it - or maybe that's just me) to create interesting patterns and designs on your nails! As a 2.5, you can also use metallic paint on your walls (probably not the same one you used for your nails, with a brush that small I think you'd be there a whiiiiiiile) and decorate it with magnets and posters, held up by magnets just like you would on a fridge door! 3. Finding studs in walls Simply use your magnet to locate metal studs or screws that have been painted over or buried in the wall, the magnet will stick to them. You can use several magnets and even leave them there so you can see where the studs are in the walls. 4. Holding pins for sewing Similiarly to 1, you can use your fridge magnet to keep your pins in place when sewing. If I was a sewer (is that the term? I feel like it might be seamstress...) then I feel like this would be a handy one for me, since even though I don't sew on a regular basis, I still manage to stab myself whenever there's a pin even in the same room as me. 5. Remove batteries If your battery is in a tight compartment, sometimes it can hurt your fingers or break your newly metalically paintednails to get them out - you can use a magnet for this! Hooray, I didn't have to use my back-up! The word magnet is starting to sound strange to me, you know when you say a word over and over and it starts to sound like a word you think you might have made up? Yep. Magnet. Maaaaagnet. Is it just me? If you're interested in learning more about our new magnets, then head over to our shop where you can see each one in detail. Just a quick post from me this week as I've got lots to do to get ready for the Festival and also for moving house...!!! More on that next week too, sorry to be such a tease, but it has to be done! Thanks for reading and I'll catch you next week, Rachel x
