Hi everyone, welcome back to a new blog post! It is raining and it’s cold and I’m in a duvet and it’s June. JUNE. What is going on? I love the rain, I really do, it’s my favourite weather (apart from snow, obviously) but when it’s June and I live in a town by the sea and people come to holiday here and wear shorts and sunglasses in this weather, it truly makes me and everyone else miserable. I want ice cream and sandcastles in June, I don’t want to be running back to my car to get my coat because it’s just too cold to be without. Ridiculous, quite frankly! Where is the sun???

Anyway, rant aside, it is mad that the weather is so dismal but there’s not much to be done about it except a Sun Dance and so I’ll move on for now! (Expect another rant this time next week if there’s still no sun, I want to go swimming in the sea again! Can you believe that was only a week ago? Nope, me neither.) I had a fabby fab time in Manchester last week, thank you for asking, it was great fun, we went dancing and it was lovely, I imagine going out for drinks with gal pals for a weekend away is the adult equivalent of a movie night sleepover where you all sleep on the lounge floor, after watching a film and eating tooooo many sweets and choc. Fun times! After Manchester, I scooted on a little bit further up the country to visit my fella in Huddersfield, a flying visit, before heading back down to sunny (not) Anglesey, where the flat hunt drags ever on, with no news yet.

Our amazing pancakes and waffles from the American diner Ruby Mae's in Beaumaris

Like I mentioned last week (or the week before, honestly they’re all blurring into one, I can’t believe I’ve been back on Anglesey for a month already, time is going so quickly these days, I think it's because I'm always so busy!) this is about the time of year that all my smart-cookie friends at university start coming home in dribs and drabs for the Summer, and so yesterday one of my oldest friends got back from Durham Uni,(10 or 11 years of friendship now I think, and considering I'm 22 that's half my entire life!) and we went out to a new place in Beaumaris called Ruby Mae’s, which is an american style diner! I’ve never really been to a diner before but (and I can hear the audible cringe of everyone who knows me well when they read what is coming next) in my favourite TV show, Gilmore Girls, the characters religiously visit a diner in their small town called Luke’s, and so whilst I was there I felt like I was in the show! (Remind me some time to write a blog post about Gilmore Girls, I said the words ‘favourite TV show’ like I was cool and not obsessed but really I could easily write you a 100,000,000 word essay on it and I'd get an A*) Anyway, we went to Ruby Mae’s, and neither of us had been there before and so we didn’t really know what to order! I went for the classic, pancakes! (again, if you know me, you’ll know I was quite literally in heaven, pretending I was in Gilmore Girls whilst also eating what is quite possibly my all time favourite food - I am the pancake queen, as my university housemates will tell you) and Joe ordered waffles. We chatted and caught up whilst we waited and then the waiter brought over what I can only describe to you as picture-perfect-pancakes. Oh my oh my oh my. Yes, that is Nutella. Yes, it was divine. No, it was not good for my diet. Yes, it was absolutely 100% definitely totally worth it and I would do it again.

Need I say anything else at all? (Well, maybe ‘Joe, when are we going back to Ruby Mae’s?’)

Apart from that, this week I’m afraid again all I’ve been doing is working. I’m working on a few commissions and also a very exciting secret project that I can’t wait to tell you all about, but for now I must keep my lips sealed… I’m also starting a very exciting process next week, monthly meetings with business women, but again, for now, I won’t say too much, because I’m not sure on this one if I’m allowed to tell you! However, because of all these exciting things, I’m working very hard to get my current commissions completed so I can start some new ones, as I have a few lined up that I’m also very excited to start! In the meantime, I have also been trying to paint a few originals that I might sell, just little ones, because I’d like to start selling original paintings as well as prints, canvases and cards. Watch this space! Very exciting times lie ahead.

That’s all from me this week, thank you so much for reading, and just a reminder that if you did enjoy my blog posts, you can subscribe below to make sure you get notified whenever I post a new one! (Weekly on a Friday!) I’ve got some very exciting stuff coming up in the coming blog posts, and if I ever find myself a flat, I’ll be filming a lot of my painting process too, which again I’ll let you know about in the blog posts. Anyhoo, I’ll stop wittering now, catch you next time, Rachel x
