Times are a-changing

Hi everyone, and welcome to a new blog post- I’m afraid this one will be short and sweet because I’m very busy this week and I’m writing this during my lunch break at work, today! So unfortunately it’s going to have to be a quick one… The main thing I want to talk about today is that I’ve decided to change the time of the blog posts! Instead of 4pm every Friday, I’ll be changing the upload time of these posts to 7pm every Friday. The reason for this is simply because I work Friday afternoons until at least 5pm nowadays and so I can’t monitor the upload and sharing etc of the posts at 4pm. (Which is why the last few have been late, apologies!) So from next week onwards, it will be 7pm that the new posts will be live.

Secondly, I’d like to chat about how I lost out on the flat of my dreams last week! I went to view it and fell in love immediately, it was light and spacious (but also kinda small, but in a cosy way and not a cramped way) it had two bedrooms so we were thinking one could be turned into an art sudio/music studio/office area, and it even had a beautiful wooden spiral staircase! I was smitten the moment I saw it, and as it was located centrally in the town we wanted to be In, it was ideal. It was a little out of our budget, but I was hoping we could scrimp enough to get by for this place, so I told Farren all about it excitedly. Sadly, that very afternoon, the agent came back to talk to me, and said she had some bad news…Unbeknownst to her, someone else had been shown the same flat that very morning, and I was not the only one who had fallen for it. The other tenant had decided to take it at the full asking price, which unfortunately we couldn’t compete with. It’s strange the way the universe works, though, because although obviously I was absolutely devastated that we missed it, it made me realise that you have to get that ‘feeling’ about a place. I’d seen another place that same morning, before this one, and it was lovely and spacious and better value for money than the second one, but it just didn’t give me that instant feeling that we’d be happy there. In the second place, I was picturing straight away where our furniture would go and where I’d sit and read in the morning and where our kettle would go on the kitchen counter… But I didn’t think about any of those things in the first apartment! So whilst I’m very sorry to have seen the other place go, I’m still very pleased I got the opportunity to have a look at it because it made me realise the difference between liking a place and seeing it’s good value and falling head over heels for a place because before you’d even see it, it was exactly what you didn’t know you were looking for! So the hunt for flats continues! If anyone is reading this and they know of any nice apartments suitable for a young couple on Anglesey, please let me know in the comments! Thanks for reading and sorry for such a short post this week, catch you next time (at 7pm not 4pm, don’t forget!) Rachel x
