A Nameless Puffin Competition

Hello lovely people, I hope you all had a fun Easter and consumed lots and lots of chocolate! I know I certainly did... This week’s post is going to be rather short one, for a number of reasons that I will get into now. Firstly, as I mentioned last week, I have been working essentially full time at Thorntons the past two weeks as it is their second busiest season, Easter! As such, I have been at work from 8.30am until sometimes as late as 8pm, and when I get in that late, I am absolutely exhausted, and starving, so usually it’s about all I can do to have some dinner and then crash into my bed. So, because I have been at work, I haven’t really got anything too exciting to share, as it has pretty much been work, sleep, work, sleep, paint, work, sleep, work, paint, and so on.

Secondly, I mentioned the word paint there - I am working on a few commissions at the moment, and perhaps in future I will share those via my blog, but as of yet they are private commissions and so although I am painting away whenever I can prop myself up with a paintbrush after work, I can’t write about those just yet either - sorry!

Thirdly, I’ve not long gotten in from working at Thorntons, and I am absolutely desperate for a cuppa, but we’ve run out of milk. So, I’m writing this caffeineless and weary, and want to make it quick so I can dash out and purchase some milk so I can have a panad!!

And finally, I am writing this blog post on the Thursday evening, the 20th of April, which is also our anniversary! I use the word anniversary even though we’re not married, but I’m not sure what the equivalent is?! Do people say anniversary if they’re not married? I’m not sure, but we do, and so I don’t want to spend too long with my face buried in my laptop as I feel I should be spending quality time with my lovely Farren this evening. So, I’ve told you it’s going to be a short post, but I haven’t yet alluded to what we’re talking about this week.

First and foremost - big changes for me ahead! Today, as well as it being an important day in our relationship, it was also the day I handed in my notice to Thorntons. I have been nervous about this all week, and have attempted to start the conversation several times, but always chickened out and left work with a ‘I’ll tell them tomorrow,’ mentality. However, today, I held my nerve, and told my lovely boss that in a few weeks time, I would be leaving the company. Now, you may be wondering if I hate the job or if I have a new job, or if I have lost my mind to be leaving a job with ‘chocolate’ in the job title. I don’t hate my job at all, in fact, I really have thoroughly enjoyed working at Thorntons, the staff I work with are wonderful and the job itself is enjoyable work to do (as well as the obvious perk of easily accessible chocolate). I resigned from Thorntons as I will be moving house in three weeks time, away from the area where I currently live and back to be much closer to Beaumaris, where I will be starting work with my family businesses again for the duration of the Summer. It also means that I’ll be looking for a new apartment or flat for my partner and myself, so keep your eyes peeled for future blogs about the moving process! I’m quite excited to document the adventure of moving this time via my blog posts, as although I write them for you lovely readers, it’s also a diary of sorts for myself, and I do from time to time enjoy reading back some of the older posts.

Secondly, there is a very important competition afoot at the moment! The original Paddlin’ Puffin, my very first puffin pal, all this time, has been nameless. Although we call him Paddlin’ Puffin, he doesn’t actually have a name himself, and so we, along with The Nook, a lovely self-catering holiday cottage, where our puffin is currently roosting, are hosting a competition so that you can name him yourself! I will put all the links and bits and bobs here so you can go and get yourself an entry, as the prize is a real treat, you can win yourself and up to four other guests a two night stay at the Nook. Here is the link, https://www.facebook.com/TheNookLlandudno/photos/a.330549230609370.1073741837.316497242014569/473033126360979/?type=3&theater , click and go, add a comment to the post of your name suggestion, and then share the post, to enter the competition! It’s completely free to enter, and the winner will be chosen by mister nameless puffin and myself!

I think that’s all I have for you this week folks, as my fella is home now and he’s brought home some milk! Which means I can finally have a lovely cup of tea, so as the kettle calls, I’ll be off! Catch you next week all, and thanks for reading, Rachel x
