Hello everyone and welcome back! How are you all this week? I hope you’re all well, I’ve had a very interesting and exciting week, so let me tell you all about it! It began with a lovely lunch outing to a place I’ve never been before, a quaint little cafe, in an old fashioned arcade, stylised in a kind of retro-esque fashion, paired with modern kitchen and coffee equipment. The staff were friendly, the food was delicious and the company was great! It was a fun afternoon treat and something I don’t really do very often so it was a wonderful change to my usual working week and nice to catch up with family friends. Now, at the moment, I am working on a few different things, as it is the time of year when stockists are getting ready for the Spring/Summer season, I have been very busy this week working on getting new designs painted, printed and ready to deliver to our stockists, as well as all the ordering and formatting that comes along with that, not to mention the deliveries themselves. (Thanks Mum <3) Since we’re still new and still just the two of us, we do it all ourselves, I paint, scan, edit and then format the images digitally to be ready to send to the printer, whilst Mum works on the orders and quantities. We then place the orders, and when they arrive, we package each and every item ourselves to be ready and perfect for our customers and stockists. After that, we then each take a Mini-Cooper-full (mine is called Maisie and Mum’s is called Monty) around Anglesey and further afield. So, we’ve been very busy these past few weeks with all that, alongside several commissions I am also working on at the moment! Here are the three new designs in question, for anyone wondering! (Now available to purchase on cards, canvases and mugs, wink wink)

Now, at the moment, I am that person who doesn’t know how to leave work at the office. I am constantly checking emails, sending emails, receiving and making phone calls during meal times, you get the idea. I am very lucky in that my partner is ridiculously understanding about all this, and doesn’t mind that I never switch off, and often during the evenings if we are watching a film or a television programme, when my phone buzzes, he now resolutely pauses it and goes to make a cuppa while I deal with whatever I need to deal with. The reason I am telling you all this is because we were at a friend’s house last night when I received a very exciting email! We went over for a few drinks and pizza, and I got an email notification on my phone, so I checked it and then couldn’t contain my excitement! Let me give you some context!
Several months ago, back when we very first started this website, I received an email enquiring about the use of my Paddlin’ Puffin image. The gentleman had purchased a boat, which they were going to call the ‘Huffin’ Puffin,’ and had come across my work, and wanted to use Paddlin’ Puffin on the boat and purchase mugs to use onboard. After working out the details, I agreed and they said that they would be in touch when it was all finished, and they would send some pictures. Now, it had been a few months and I hadn’t heard anything, but I don’t know much about boat maintenance or applying images to the hull of a boat (or if hull is even the correct terminology, please forgive me!) so I didn’t worry too much about it. Well, the email I received last night was from the very same gentleman and his wife, with pictures of the Huffin’ Puffin!
It’s so exciting, my little puffin will be sailing the seven seas aboard the Huffin’ Puffin, and even more excitingly, I have been invited aboard for a sail! For anyone out there who knows anything about boats, this one is called a Hanse 345. So, that’s been my week so far, a terribly interesting and exciting one, and I will make sure to keep you all posted about my boating adventures in the future! A big thank you to Peter and Sheena for allowing me to share this with you all on here, and I hope you all have a nice weekend.
Catch you next time, Rachel x
